While I struggled with this pattern a bit, I did ultimately figure it all out and make a pretty fierce hat. One of my challenges was figuring out how to fold the felt squares. I honestly just had to fuck around for a while and eventually I figured out something that worked, but the instructions and photos didn’t help much. Partially, it would help if the photos of the hat part of the headpiece were of a lighter colored fabric so I could clearly see what that piece looks like folded up, but not yet trimmed. That’d really give an idea of how the hat piece was meant to come together. I also ended up making it about 1.5 inches larger all the way around than the original pattern piece to better fit and stay on my head. That meant I also had to cut the corner slits a lot longer. Anyway, as I said, I did manage to make a great hat and this pattern did give me a helpful jumping off point. Ultimately, I am a visual learner so I do often struggle with written instructions.
